~ Truth about Hua Xiao Lei & Qiu Yue’s past + Rescue? ~
Synopsis:
Chun Hua’s clothes were wet so Qiu Yue decided that she needed a change of clothes, asking Ye Xing Zhu to lend a set of hers. When Ye Xing Zhu brought over a set of her usual clothes, Qiu Yue didn’t like the dark colour and decided that Chun Hua would wear his clothes for the time being. He instructs Ye Xing Zhu to arrange for a few sets of clothes to be made for Chun Hua and told her to get a few sets for herself because he couldn’t stand seeing her lifeless outfits. Chun Hua puts on Qiu Yue’s clothes and as expected, it was too large for her. When Qiu Yue pointed this out, Chun Hua likened it to the both of them – they didn’t fit, but Xiao Bai and her were a perfect fit. Qiu Yue then remarked that her feelings for Xiao Bai weren’t even that deep because she would’ve tried to kill herself if she were truly so in love with him. Chun Hua retorts that love was about accommodating and testing each other, there must be trust in order for the relationship to bloom. Hearing this, Qiu Yue asked if she would let him go through her test but she rejected it with a firm glare.
Qiu Yue orders Ye Xing Zhu to dispose of Chun Hua’s wedding outfit and she left to follow her orders, carrying the red garment on a tray. However, halfway to her destination, she stops and caresses the red fabric with a small smile on her face. She soon comes to her senses and after looking to check that no one had seen her, she hurries on her way.
Meanwhile, sensing that Chun Hua wasn’t very happy with him, Qiu Yue strolls up to her and leans forward, putting his face right in front of hers. Angry but helpless, Chun Hua turns her face away from his, turning again to the other side whenever he shifted to put his face right in front of hers. Seeing this, Qiu Yue comments that she must really dislike him now. Fed up, Chun Hua asked if he was done, addressing him as Shang Guan Qiu Yue. Qiu Yue insisted that she called him Ge Ge, saying that if she would just stay at Qian Yue Cave obediently, he would comply with any wish she had. Chun Hua asked if he could go and die and after a moment of thought, Qiu Yue replied that it wasn’t impossible. Chun Hua looked at him with disbelief and shock.
Back at Feng Ming Manor, Xiao Bai was soaking in his private pool as he pondered what had happened, questioning if he should trust Chun Hua. Meanwhile, Liu Feng, Cai Cai and Leng Ning were in a small panic when Xiao Bai was nowhere to be found. Leng Ning then brought up Chun Hua’s scar, saying that Liu Feng had looked like he knew everything about it, asking him if he was that close with Chun Hua. Slightly horrified at the connotation, Liu Feng insisted that he only knew because of his friendship with Xiao Bai. Later, the trio sat down to chat about the events that had occurred at the wedding. Leng Ning questions the fact that Qiu Yue knew about Chun Hua’s scar and Cai Cai explains that Chun Hua had been taken by Qiu Yue before, maybe he had seen the scar then.
Back at Chuan Qi Valley, You Si’s condition was getting worse and as Fu Lou fussed over her, his subordinate delivered news about Xiao Bai’s wedding.
Chun Hua returns to her room to find that Qiu Yue was already waiting for her inside. She trips on the door frame and the box that held the Longevity Fruit flew towards Qiu Yue. When he asked what it was, she told him that it was the Longevity Fruit, asking if he would let her return to Xiao Bai in exchange for it. Qiu Yue sighs, telling her that the fake Longevity Fruit would only be enough to fool the old fellows, not him. Chun Hua is shocked that he knew but he ignores her question, only telling her that she wasn’t allowed to sleep in her room because she hadn’t been well-behaved. That night, Chun Hua was to sleep at the secret room and there, she confronts Qiu Yue and clarified facts about his past with Hua Xiao Lei. It turns out that Qiu Yue knew about the scar / birthmark because Hua Xiao Lei had stripped and offered herself to him. Even as he was telling her this, Qiu Yue teased her, first pretending that he had forgotten, then suggesting that she re-enacted it to help jolt his memory. He told her that he liked the mark but not Hua Xiao Lei so he had left without touching her. Relieved, Chun Hua rambles on about how he shouldn’t have allowed Hua Xiao Lei to go to Feng Ming Manor to steal the Xin Fa if he liked her, that his feelings towards her were only like that of a pet, that she didn’t like him, that she was to marry Xiao Bai, not him. Qiu Yue’s words of “I’ll be good to you, I swear.” had been totally ignored by Chun Hua during her rambling and with hurt and fury in his eyes, Qiu Yue conjured a ball of light which he soon retracted, telling her that he only didn’t want her to marry Xiao Bai.
Xiao Bai was alone in his room as he fiddled with the white chess piece that Chun Hua had given him when he noticed movement outside his room. It turns out that Chief Feng, Chief Qin and Fu Lou had come for the Longevity Fruit. When Xiao Bai didn’t see anyone outside his room, he goes to Liu Feng’s room to discuss their next move. Liu Feng was worried for Chun Hua’s safety but Xiao Bai deemed the Longevity Fruit to be of higher importance because of his position as leader of the good sects. Liu Feng tries in vain to convince him, saying that the Longevity Fruit wasn’t even with them right now. Fu Lou was eavesdropping and left after he heard this.
Back in his room, Xiao Bai had changed out of his wedding garment and folded them neatly when Cai Cai came to find him. She started by confessing to him, concluding with her realisation that Chun Hua was the one for him. After reasoning with him that he must first have love for his family before he can love and protect the world, she finally manages to convince him to be truthful with himself and follow his heart.
Back at Qian Yue Cave, we are shown a short clip of a male with a flute.
Still upset about being snatched from her wedding, Chun Hua makes a show of being glum and unwilling to eat the food Ye Xing Zhu brought her. However, once she’s alone, she digs into the food and finds a note in the rice (with a white chess piece) from Xiao Bai promising to rescue her. She quickly hides the note when Qiu Yue enters the secret room. Seeing that a huge chunk of rice was gone from her bowl, Qiu Yue comments that the food must be exceptionally tasty and asks to have a taste. Chun Hua holds out her bowl to him and he asked if she had forgotten what he had taught her before. Flustered as she realised what he was implying (Episode 18 – mouth to mouth feeding lol), she slams the bowl of rice in front of him. Knowing full well what had crossed her mind, Qiu Yue clarifies that she had to pass him the chopsticks first. After she did so, he left without taking a bite, commenting something about mutual respect in a marriage.
The next morning at Feng Ming Manor, now that he had decided to rescue Chun Hua, Xiao Bai couldn’t wait around any longer and was going to head for Qian Yue Cave when Liu Feng stopped him, saying that Chief Leng’s spy had already sent word to Chun Hua and they would be able to rescue her very soon. Liu Feng explains that the spy, Ling Yang, was indebted to Chief Leng and had been laying low in Qian Yue Cave to await the day he could be of help to his benefactor and that he communicated with Chief Leng using the flute.
Meanwhile at Qian Yue Cave, Qiu Yue was resting when he heard a flute playing and commented that it was even more moving than “Three Day Drunk”. After Ye Xing Zhu questions that it was rather unusual, Qiu Yue’s eyes shot open before his gaze hardens. Later, flute guy (Ling Yang) was writing words on the ground with water when he hears Qiu Yue telling Ye Xing Zhu to find the flute player because he wanted the person to play for Chun Hua. Ling Yang quickly splashes water to cover what he had written and quickly greets the both of them before turning to leave. Ye Xing Zhu stops him and critiques his footsteps and the splash of water he had left, asking how Gu Xing Zhu had taught him. Qiu Yue comments on the fact that she was usually subservient in front of him but so fierce with her subordinates. When Ye Xing Zhu explains that she was worried that the slippery ground would inconvenience him, Qiu Yue left after commenting that her fears were groundless.
In the following days, every mealtime, Chun Hua would search through her food – peeling open buns to no avail, rummaging through vegetables and getting excited over nothing when she mistook a large piece of cabbage for another note. One day, as she was prodding at her food, lamenting the fact that seven days had gone by without further news from Xiao Bai, she found another note in her bowl of rice. Before she could read it, Qiu Yue entered the room and she quickly hid it, trying to act like nothing was up. Qiu Yue sat down and immediately asked her to hand it over. When she pretended not to understand what he was saying, Qiu Yue smiled and reached under the bed to pull out a drawing of Qian Yue Cave’s layout. As he looked it over, Qiu Yue told her that it wasn’t valuable but he couldn’t let Xiao Bai have it, before frowning as he commented that her drawing was too ugly. Miffed, Chun Hua retorts that since he was so good at it, he should draw the map and Qiu Yue replies that he remembered everything and didn’t need to draw it out. Heaving a sigh of relief after Qiu Yue leaves, Chun Hua excitedly takes out the note only to find that it was just a blank strip of paper.
Thoughts:
I call this the “Chun Hua breaks Qiu Yue’s heart multiple times” episode. Chun Hua was so cold towards Qiu Yue…it’s as if her anger killed any fear she might’ve had. Qiu Yue even indirectly confessed to her multiple times in this episode! My heart is broken…why Chun Hua…why! Moreover, Chun Hua! You deaf? Qiu Yue said he left after Hua Xiao Lei stripped because he didn’t like her and in the next second what did you say? “If you liked Hua Xiao Lei, you shouldn’t have let her go to Feng Ming Manor to steal the Xin Fa.” What!?
Xiao Bai shocked me a little at the start. He was going to prioritise the Longevity Fruit and leave Chun Hua with Qiu Yue! It’s only after a heart to heart with Cai Cai that he finally admitted his true feelings and put down his baggage as the young chief. Thank God for Cai Cai, she’s such an angel.
When Chun Hua started to dig through her food frantically I was like nonononoooooo she’s going to give it away. And when Qiu Yue’s eyes turned serious when Ye Xing Zhu commented on the flute, I’m like…it’s over – The spy is going to get caught – Xiao Bai can’t save Chun Hua (Not that I’m complaining. Hehe) That’s because Qiu Yue had always been able to read Chun Hua, whether she’s lying or hiding something from him, and he’s also really smart and will be able to put two and two together.
Leng Ning likes Liu Feng. Why else would she keep bringing Chun Hua up and questioning his relation to her? Besides, Qiu Yue crashing the wedding had created a huge commotion and Leng Ning somehow noticed Liu Feng’s expression? *wink wink*
Now, about Ling Yang, something is weird? Like…the white chess piece was something between Xiao Bai and Chun Hua, how did Chief Leng know? Unless maybe Leng Ning or Liu Feng told him? Idk. And the fact that he takes orders from Chief Leng is bugging me. I mean, Chief Leng killed Chief Feng, his friend of many years! Will he be so ‘kind-hearted’ to risk exposing a spy he had, just to save Chun Hua? Like Xiao Bai had mentioned, Qiu Yue is careful and it wouldn’t have been easy for Ling Yang to infiltrate Qian Yue Cave. Hence, unless it was really important, he wouldn’t risk exposing his spy and Chun Hua isn’t anyone to him so…
