[Chinese/Pinyin/English] Yu Bin/Wen Ning – Chi Zi (宇斌/温宁 – 赤子) The Untamed OST (陈情令) Lyrics

Other titles: Newborn / Pure Heart

Verse 1:
cā jiān de rén lù guò de chéng zài xīn lǐ shēng gēn
People I’ve briefly encountered, the cities I’ve passed through, take root in my heart
shēng zài yū ní shēn xiàn líng yǔ réng bú wàng yuán běn
Born in silt, thrown behind bars yet not forgetting my origins
jǐ duō ēn yuàn jǐ duō lí fēn luàn shì lǐ fú chén
How many grievances, how many separations, drifting along in this chaotic world
zài huàn nàn lǚ chéng xiě xià wú huǐ de ài hèn
Journeying through adversity, love and hate with no regrets

Pre-Chorus:
bú pà hé shì jiè duì lì chéng dí rén
Not afraid to oppose and become enemies with the world
zhǐ yào nǐ yǎn shén shǒu kěn
So long as your gaze assents

Chorus:
xīn rú chì zǐ dān chún
A heart as pure as a newborn baby
bù rǎn bàn diǎn huī chén
Untainted by the least bit of dirt
chuān guò suǒ yǒu fēn zhēng
Going through all disputes
zài nǐ de shēn cè yǒng héng
To stay by your side for all eternity
xīn rú chì zǐ tiān zhēn
A heart as innocent as a newborn baby
nǎ pà yī shēn xiū luó yìn hén
Even if my whole body is marked[1]
yòng cán shēng wèi nǐ fèn bù gù shēn
With this wretched life[2] I’ll risk everything for you[3]

Verse 2:
yī shēn bái yī yī rú shào nián yǒu shéi néng zuǒ zhèng
Dressed in white, just like a young man, who can bear witness to
wú biān huí yì jié le zhū wǎng cǎo mù yǐ shēn shēn
Infinite memories, bound by spider web, the vegetation is already dense
duō shǎo fēng xuě duō shǎo gù rén duō shǎo cì rèn zhēn
How many snowstorms, how many old friends, how many times I’ve been earnest
zài huàn nàn lǚ chéng xiě xià wú huǐ de ài hèn
Journeying through adversity, love and hate with no regrets

(Repeat Pre-Chorus)
(Repeat Chorus x2)

yòng cán shēng wèi nǐ fèn bù gù shēn
With this wretched life I’ll risk everything for you

Can’t find much about this except that it refers to malevolent spirits in Indian mythology. Personally, I think it’s referring to the black vein-y looking marks that Wen Ning has on him.
[2] Can also mean ‘remaining years’, making it ‘For the rest of my life’. But I think the vibe that ‘wretched’ gives the song really suits Wen Ning’s story so…yeah.
[3] 奋不顾身 – It’s an idiom that means to dash ahead with no regard for personal safety. Decided to change it slightly because ‘With this wretched life I’ll disregard my safety for you’ sounds kind of weird.

My untamed feelsss.
I had wanted to do Wu Ji first but I got stuck at certain parts so I jumped to Bu Wang but also got stuck and Qu Jin Chen Qing is out of the question so let’s start with Chi Zi 😅
