[1] Lan Zhan’s home. Can also mean ‘Dark clouds’
[2] Wei Ying’s favourite Gusu wine
[3] Lan Zhan’s zither, Wang Ji
[4] Where Wei Ying gets detention (and where Lan Zhan’s father hid his mother?)
[5] The tune that Lan Zhan plays on his Qin to look for Wei Ying’s soul
[6] These are bits from a line that Wei Ying said to Lan Zhan ‘是非在己,毁誉由人,得失不论’
是非在己 – my heart will be the judge of whether something is right or wrong
毁誉由人 – leave praise or condemnation to man
得失不论 – no matter the end / regardless of success or failure
Meaning: After deciding on what is right or wrong, regardless of whether I receive praise or condemnation, I’ll leave it to fate.
[7] 茫茫 has a connotation of being lost – to have a long future ahead but be unsure of where to go OR (Note to self: Can also mean “many people”, making the translation – The promise we made at Yunshen among many people. Referring to the lantern wishing scene maybe? – Please check! Don’t forget! 不忘 😂)
[8] 君 (jūn) Polite way of referring to a male e.g Han Guang Jun (The ‘Jun’ in this sentence refers to…Wei Ying? Maybe?)
[9] Refers to Lan Zhan who has the title of Han Guang Jun aka Light Bearer
[10] Lan Zhan’s sword – The name means to ‘avoid worldly affairs’ or ‘dust’ aka to always keep one’s integrity
[11] Something you say after reuniting – A more literal translation would be “I trust you’ve been well since we last met”

  1. With regards to point 4, 静室 is the name of Lan Wangji’s room (that was in the novel, and I believe it showed it in the TV show as well, but they also called LWJ’s mother’s room by the same name as well in the TV show – I don’t know whether that is just the general name they’re giving private rooms)
