[1] 殇 shāng – Means to die young or to die in war. Basically, to die. I interpreted it as the death of the relationship = Heartbreak
[2] 灰墙 huī qiáng – Can mean a few things: 1) Plaster wall 2) Grey wall 3) Wall of ash (?!)
After hours of thought, I decided on ‘plaster wall’ because (maybe) this line is describing gentleness as the first step in a relationship, like how plastering the wall is the first step before you paint the desired colour on top. OR it could also (maybe) be describing gentleness as the approach to fixing any problems in a relationship, like plastering the wall to fill in any cracks in the walls. Idk. Anyone has any other ideas?
[3] More towards the alarmed/anxious kind of ‘mess’
[4] Seeing how the song ends, this can also be taken to mean that he’s dying.
