I’m insignificant, It’s laughable, I can’t forget

(Repeat Pre-Chorus)
(Repeat Chorus x2)

[1] Just saying, but ‘Spring Night’ is also an euphemism for a night of sexual bliss
[2] Jianghu – Translates to ‘Rivers and Lakes’ but in wuxia settings, when people say ‘Jianghu’ they’re basically referring to the world
[3] Dao = Daoism/Taoism aka the ‘right way’
[4] I would just like to say that this whole line is incorrect, because I have no idea what it means. It doesn’t make any sense AT ALL. It’s highly likely that it’s meant to be more figurative then literal, but I don’t know what that figurative is, and the literal doesn’t make sense so…if anyone knows what this means, help appreciated. In the meantime, I’ll break it down for ya’ll:
少年 Youths
子弟 Children / the younger generation
江湖 Jianghu
老 Aged / Old / Experienced
[☆] 天亦老 I translated it literally but it doesn’t actually mean “heaven has aged” because heaven can’t actually grow old? It’s more of a “heaven has aged due to emotions of sorrow/regret after years of witnessing the things that have happened in the human world”

  1. Hey, thanks for the translation! I keep coming back to it as I study Chinese. 🙂
I think [4] should maybe be read with the previous line? “Ask immortals, ask the path who can live free and unfettered – the young ones and the Jianghu elders”.
As in, young people who are not yet bound by obligations and the old wise people who are already rid of those obligations. Everyone else cannot be free.
